A sterling silver double sided key chain with the ends made in the form of a pair of nautical shackles. This beautifully executed and sturdy key chain is both handsome and practical. Each shackle has a pin that is unscrewed via the pin head, much the same as its full size relative. This then allows keys or a small split ring to be passed through. Then screw it back down into the lug and tighten to close. Both of these identical shackles are connected by the bow area to another, smaller piece of sterling chain, which in turn has a lobster clasp in the center. This can therefore be easily separated if needed. So, in theory one could keep a car key on one side, and a house key on another. Both can therefore be separated if only one was needed.
The key chain throughout is superbly made, with all parts being constructed in a thick gauge of silver and is in excellent condition. On one side of the key chain is a large "W" stamped into it, along side the "sterling" metal mark. This W was for luxury store; Wathne. Wathne was an Icelandic multi-brand store with locations in a few carefully selected locations throughout the world such as New York and London. Research has uncovered this exact key chain featuring in their catalogue in the 1990's. It was a family owned business that, as far as can be established, is no longer operating, closing its New York store in 2001.
